Present and have enjoyed your comments and appreciate your efforts while you are so far away. The Lord's blessings as you travel and search. Not sure I have anything to add to your good thoughts. This passage is fairly straight forward, but somewhat scary as well.

Sandy,
I believe you are absolutely correct. The reference here to judging and the consequences to a Christian might be one of the most scary passages in the Bible. Especially sense I have been guilty of judging others many times in my life.

I love the book of Romans and it continuity. All of these points will come together in a few chapters to give us all much strength and encouragement.

If one thinks about the word judge itself, it can get a little confusing as to what really is judging, What are you actually doing when you 'pass judgement" on someone. If you know they are doing something wrong and they know you don't believe in it, such as we see now days as is mentioned in chapter 1, v 26--does one not associate with them or what if one has to work with these--does one quit their job?

Sandy,

We are in the world, but at the same time called out of the world. If we separated ourselves from all the people we were in spiritual conflict with, we would be VERY lonely. We must work and act in this world, and interact with others. Some times we are thrown into situations where we have little control. In those situations we need to rise up above the physical world and set spiritual examples to those who are living worldly lives. If the situation begins to influence us and has a negative impact on our life, that becomes too much of a struggle, then we might need to consider making a change. That is the great thing about living in the USA, we have options. I worked with a partner for over five years, and he was very amoral. But he honored me and kept that part of his life separate from me, most of the time. That is a part of discerning our situations and making the best judgment possible as it applies to each Christian.
